An ideal basement design should allow for the concealing of ductwork, columns and pipes.  Thoughtful design can “hide” a number of these elements and create a space that resembles the living space on the other floors.

In the basement shown, we were able to conceal all of the lally columns and , in relocating HVAC ducts,  minimize the use of soffits.  Crown molding, base trim, doors and hardware were identical to those used on the upper floors—to create a space that was less like a basement and more like the floors above.
